On Thursday morning a horrible accident occurred at Roachdale in which a five-year-old child was burned so that it lived but a few hours.  Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Evans live in a neat little home there and on Thursday morning Mrs. Evans left her home but a few moments and it was during her absence the accident occurred. Her little girl being left alone got too near a fire and the flames quickly caught her dress. Mrs. Evans as soon as she arrived discovered the almost lifeless baby and at once summoned surgical aid. The physician found the child was horribly burned all over the body, especially on the upper parts the flesh falling in pieces from the arms.  The physician further thought the child had inhaled flames. Its death occurred in a few hours after the accident about 4 o’clock p.m. Mr. Evans is a hard working man of Roachdale and has the sympathy of a large number of friends. The funeral occurred Friday. - kbz
